We offer a curriculum that is individual, unique and values every child’s style of learning. The provision for children’s development and learning is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
The EYFS has seven areas of learning which the children will be introduced to, through lovely and interesting child/adult initiated activities, approached at the appropriate level for their age group or stage of development.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Through offering children, a home away from home environment, we are able to support our children to develop a positive sense of themselves and others and to learn they are valued, and their voice is heard. Children are helped to form positive relationships and develop lifelong social skills as well as learning how to manage their feelings in our safe and secure environment
Communication and Language
Communication is at the heart of children’s learning and development. We provide children with opportunities to experience a rich language environment, allowing children to develop confidence and skills in expressing themselves and to speak and listen in a range of situations.
Physical Development
Physical develop is essential for developing healthy bodies and minds, we promote this through regular indoor & outdoor activities and apparatus as well as offering a range of stimuli for movement. This involves providing the opportunity for children to be active & interactive and to develop their co-ordination, control & movement. Children are also helped to understand the importance of physical activity and to make healthy choices in relation to food.
Literacy
We immersed our children in an environment rich in different print which encourages children to link letters and sounds, laying the foundations to begins to read and write. In all our rooms children are given access to a wide range of reading materials including books and poems to ignite their interests.
Mathematics
This is established & extended through daily games & play which gives our children opportunities to practice their mathematical skills & knowledge and describe shapes, space and measure.
Understanding of the World
Children learn best from their own first-hand experiences that encourage exploration, observation, problem solving, prediction, critical thinking, decision making & discussion. At Rainbow our children are given the opportunity to explore, observe and find out about people, places technology and the environment.
Expressive Arts and Designs
We incorporated this throughout the day by offering a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role play and design and technology. Our Children are supported to develop confidence, encouraged to independently make choices, and respond to what they see, hear, smell, touch & feel by sharing their thoughts, ideas, and feelings.
